Dubai October 16, 2009: St. Mary's Konkan Community (SMKC) Dubai organized an exhilarating event - "Konkan Showers 2009" at the Al Rashidiya Ballroom - Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 9 p.m onwards. The Konkani speaking community showed their unanimous support to this charity show and the ballroom was packed with more than 1000 people witnessing it.
Rev. Fr. Freddy D'Souza, Spiritual Director of SMKC invoked the blessings of the Almighty and a prayer song was conducted by Ye Mana Team. The dynamic and well known personality Ronald Olivera and the vivacious co-hostess Shobana from Spice FM compered the event.
Fr. Freddy thanked the gathering for their support especially the benevolent Sponsors, support sponsors and well wishers who had come forward and made the show possible with their generous contribution and participation. Boniface Carlo, Main Coordinator of SMKC Dubai, delivered the Presidential address. He highlighted SMKC's main goal of helping the needy back home for various causes and assured everyone that the funds would be utilized in educating deserving students and helping the homeless find a home.
DJ Wendyl entertained the audience at the start and in between with his fillers and choicest collection of songs. Adolf Jayatilak and Ye Mana team sang Konkani songs like Yore Pavsa, Thu Ye, Sheta Merer, Thu Zai Maka, Thand Thand Varen, Thuka Chintana, Thujya Dolyanth, to name a few and regaled the audience.
Fr. Freddy and Boniface Carlo expressed their gratitude by felicitating the Sponsors, support sponsors and well wishers for their magnanimous support and making this event a grand success.
A sumptuous dinner was served at the venue and during this time Richard Louis performed a stand up comedy which was appreciated by everyone. The second session had a medley mangalorean, goan and hindi songs performed by Ye Mana team. The exotic dance teams mesmerized the audience with their stunning performances and dance sequences. The pictures would reveal the true flavour of this event which concluded with a Baila Session and the curtains were drawn down at around 3.00 AM.
